![]() ![]() Most of my birdhouses are built for small birds like chickadees, and one would think a squirrel would realize that birdhouse is too small, but they rip open the entrance anyway. Each bird feeder pole we make comes from the highest quality hand selected wood and is thoroughly tested for strength, durability, and functionality. Highly recommend it over other feeders that are less expensive but not truly squirrel proof. Would have preferred it to be available in dark brown as when the sun shines on the green paint, it is blinding. Unfortunately, half the time the birds get them first, even though they have their own feeder. Every time that I would put peanuts out for the squirrels, the birds would quickly carry them all away. If you are using sheet metal, you’ll need to drill some holes for the nails or screws. It contains large pre-drilled holes for storing bird suet mixtures that will feed a wide variety of beautiful songbirds and woodpeckers. These bird feeder poles are eco-friendly and will not only look great in your backyard, they will also be extremely effective. ![]() Absolutely worth picking up, I would suggest 2 of these because they are a steal for the price! We put out nuts for the squirrels because it's been by far the best way to get them to ignore our garden. Be careful when handling metal, it can cut you, and wear safety goggles when drilling the hole. ![]() I used small brad nails to attach the metal to the birdhouse, the flashing is thin enough to nail through. You will drill a hole in the metal flashing that is the same diameter as the entrance of the birdhouse. Once it has a big hole, birds don’t like it, as the large hole makes it easy for predators to rob their nest. Squirrels like birdhouses for the same reasons birds do, they are nice dry places to raise young, and squirrels need a winter home as well. With our ultimate bird feeder station you will be able to feed a wide variety of beautiful song birds (from warblers, to cardinals and blue jays, to orioles and tanagers, to woodpeckers) by offering 3 different types of food in 4 unique hand made real wooden feeders (2 different styled suet feeders for feeding woodpeckers, fruit feeder for feeding fruit eating birds, and a seed feeder for feeding seed eating birds). Our bird feeder poles are hand made in the USA from beautiful and natural wood, not ugly PVC pipe or rusty metal poles. ![]() I bought one of these several years ago, and MY squirrels found away to remove the cotter pin that operates the shut down mechanism I replaced it and they removed it again! I shouldn't take so much pleasure in watching the squirrels unsuccessful attempts to get the food from this feeder. We would have won America's funniest animal video showing a squirrel trying to get the seeds! Bought this on the website's recommendation to allow cardinals and a few larger birds to feed since I bought the orignal Nuttery feeder for the small birds (which also like this feeder as well). This entry was posted in Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder and tagged birdfeeder, squirrelproofbirdfeeder. A great price and works great to keep your seed free from critters! The Birdscapes Squirrel-Be-Gone II Wild Bird Feeder features a beautiful brushed nickel finish, four-position adjustable spring for custom settings and a 12 lb. So if you put this in a yard with a bird feeder, do you think the squirrels would bother with the bird feeder or stick to their own? This squirrel proof bird feeder is a great addition to any bird lover’s paradise. I wanted the top of the feeder to be hinged, so the jar could easily be removed for cleaning. The solid six inch base and the piece with the large hole were glued together to form the bottom of the feeder. It was built from a 1圆 piece of wood (about 30 inches total), a wide mouth 2 quart jar, and two small metal hinges.
